The Meaning of Life

The Meaning of Life

“And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. …But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.”

– 1 Corinthians 12:6 & 20, NKJV

In this chapter Paul is talking about spiritual gifts and jealousy. Later in that chapter, Paul explains that the eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” In a similar sense, the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the human body that seems to be weaker are indispensable (I Corinthians 12:21f).

For example, one of my friends lost his thumb in a work accident. You might consider the thumb to not be important but don’t say that to my friend who struggles with ‘gripping’ just about anything now with that hand.

Each part of our human body plays an important part in a healthy functioning body. Likewise, each member of the 70 West body plays an important part in a healthy functioning spiritual body. As a minister who is upfront often during the worship service, it’s easy to place importance on what I do but actually everyone is important. Each member, from the ones who lead our worship service to even our youngest members are vital to the work.

As we slowly come back together let’s not overlook each and every person. Look around today and try to remember those who were here before the pandemic and have not come back yet. Reach out to these dear members and let them know we are missing them. Let’s show love to all!
