Ron . . .

Ron . . .

Ron is his name. Like so many of our personal friends, Ron had always been a morally good person. He was a contributor to our society, had held a job since he was 16 years old, volunteered with a local charity, didn’t have any bad habits, a good neighbor to all, and a new father as his first child had been born a few weeks prior to me meeting him for the first time.

Like so many of our personal friends, Ron had a tremendous need in his life, but he didn’t realize it. He needed God! He needed the peace that can only come from God. He needed the hope that is present with God. Ron was a ‘seeker’ but didn’t know who or what to seek. Ron needed God!

Like so many of our personal friends, Ron was trying to fill his life with good deeds not realizing that good deeds will fail to get you to heaven.

Like so many of our personal friends, Ron had several friends who were Christians, but they had never mentioned Jesus to Ron, and they had never invited him to a worship service. The excuse …they didn’t know how to bring the subject of Jesus up so they would end up talking about work, kids, ballgames, and politics but never about God and His church.

Unlike so many of our personal friends, Ron had a sweet older neighbor who happen to be a Christian who took the position that it never hurt to at least try so when she moved into Ron’s neighborhood she invited his family and me over to her new house for supper and then we invited his family to a worship service (which actually was her real reason for the supper).

Ron and his wife were baptized about two months after that supper and a few years later the two children were baptized. That’s 4 new Christians and it all started with a supper meal. Who is the ‘RON’ in your life?
