This has been a strange and weird time for everyone, especially our young groups. We all have gotten very comfortable with summer fun, weeks of camp, VBS and evangelistic efforts to other states. When the pandemic of COVID 19 hit our nation and the subsequent quarantine, everything changed. It is important to live after the following motto: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!”
Under this motto, we reinvented the wheel. Every Tuesday morning for the past two months, we held classes specifically designed for the younger age groups. The Kids for Christ (KFC) group was between 2 years old through 2nd grade. The Junior Jam group was 3rd grade through 6th grade. Our KFC class had singing, Bible study, crafts, snacks and time to play. Our Jr. Jam class had singing, Bible study, Card Signing, snacks and time to fellowship. We ended our class with a field trip to the Mid- America Science Museum. We have some pictures posted in the back of the auditorium for your viewing pleasure!
I hope the kids had a great time and learned a lot about the Bible. Let me tell you about what I learned.
- If one person needs to go to the restroom, then we all need to go! – KFC
- We love to sing songs with different parts, even if Mr. Billy is the only boy for the boy parts.- Jr. Jam
- My boat in the song “Sea of Galilee” is wrong!- KFC
- EVERYONE likes sidewalk chalk and bubbles.- KFC & Jr. Jam
Most importantly, I learned the 70 West church of Christ is blessed by God with a great group of young ones. You and I need to understand this blessing and the responsibility associated with this blessing. Let me say- Thank You to all those who came to be a part of this summer program. I love you guys and can’t wait till next year!
