As 2023 passes away and 2024 moves into position, we often take an account of how well or poorly we preformed in the last year. We look at health, our diets, our family and our jobs. We take stock of how the year went and our expectations of that year. We vow to have the incoming year to be closer to our expectation. We have named this process our New Year’s Resolution. While the taking of stock of our expectations is a good process, do we also examine our spiritual life? We should.
This year we all need to:
1. STUDY MORE- The idea of study is found in 2 Timothy 2:15. This does not mean to read more of the Bible. There is a HUGE difference. We need to read/study in an effort to retain God’s Word in our lives. When we retain God’s Word, it becomes a big part of our lives.
2. TEACH MORE- The idea of teaching is found in 2 Timothy 2:2. We cannot use the teaching of God’s Word in order to get others told. We must use the Word for its intended purposes- to save the lost and to secure the saint. By teaching more, we make God’s command a big part of our lives.
3. LOVE MORE- This idea is found in 1 John 4:7-11. Do you love people? Maybe, we only love folks who are already following God’s Law. We need to remember that someone loved us enough to teach us the truth. We need to love others in that same fashion.
4. GIVE MORE- This idea is found in Revelation 2:10b. by living a faithful life, we prove to others that everything I have belongs to God. Money in the collection plates is a good thing, but am I also giving my time, talents and efforts for the glory of God?
2024 is a great year to start doing all I can daily to expand the borders of the Kingdom of God. By adopting this attitude, what could I do in 2024?
