What is the most powerful FORCE in the world? Some might point to nuclear power, both as an energy source and as a weapon. Others would say storms and if you have lived through a tornado or a hurricane you might agree. Still, others would point to the destructive force of a flood as the most powerful force in the world.
Which one is correct? Actually, none of the above are correct. The most powerful force in the world is the impact of prayers. Why? Because prayer energizes our most powerful God to act on behalf of His children.
For example, when James was executed at the hands of Herod Agrippa I and Peter was sitting on death row awaiting his fate, Luke records the church as EARNESTLY PRAYING (Acts 12:5 So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church ESV). Even though Herod was the most powerful person at that time in Judea by way of his appointment by the Roman Senate, God stopped Herod’s plan and rescued Peter from prison.
Why was Peter rescued but James died? Could it be the difference of prayer on behalf of Peter? Was the church not praying as seriously for James? Did they just assume James and Peter would be released as was the case with previous arrests of church leaders by the Jews? When news came back that James had been executed, did that prompt the EARNEST PRAYER on behalf of Peter?
Are we praying EARNESTLY? We are almost at the end of our 40 DAYS OF PRAYER on behalf of the 5 big events all happening within this 40- day period. How are we doing? Would our prayers be described as EARNEST PRAYERS? Do we believe in the powerful force of these prayers?
Friday evening and Saturday, we will host the annual BLAZE Youth Rally. Billy, our parents, and the youth group have done a great job getting ready for this event. All they need now is YOU to attend. Please consider attending BLAZE and thereby send an encouraging message to our young people and carry that over to SPARK which follows BLAZE.
I will be absent Friday evening from BLAZE as I will be performing my Presidential duties for the annual FAMILIES FIRST FOUNDATION meeting at Harding University. FAMILIES FIRST FOUNDATION is a group of Christians who work together to promote family values in our state.
Don’t forget our ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE DROP-IN on Sunday afternoon, December 8th. We want YOU to drop by our house for the fellowship, holiday goodies, and your gift.
