When Forgiveness is Too Difficult…

When Forgiveness is Too Difficult…

I can’t remember having feelings like these from just reading an email from a
stranger. The email was from a Christian woman dealing with a very real problem.
I read her question and her problem struck a nerve. The words on the computer
screen gripped me. The emotions flooded my mind. I was immediately drawn in
and like Jesus at the tomb of Lazarus, I wept.

Why was I crying? I was experiencing empathy for this woman I only knew from a
simple email. This fellow Christian had a terrible deed done against her and now
she was struggling to maintain her Christian life. Her best friend had figuratively
stabbed her in the back. Her best friend had committed a wrong that would
literally destroy any other relationship and now this Christian woman was in a
battle. Satan was gaining a foothold in her heart by denying her the will to forgive
this former best friend. The anger and resentment swelled up in her and thoughts
of revenge crept in her mind. As a Christian she knew well the need to forgive but
HOW could she when such a horrible act had been committed against her?
The many passages haunted her. Matthew 6:15 but if you do not forgive others
their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ
forgave you. Mark 11:25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have
anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive
you your trespasses.”

The words were easy to read for this woman but seemed impossible to do.

Please join me this evening for a special presentation of BIBLE INVESTIGATION as I
explore the subject of forgiveness and give practical advice on how to forgive
even the major hurts that can happen in one’s life.
