II Kings 6:15-17 When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. It’s so easy in our world as it is today to feel ALONE and ISOLATED. Satan works his plan against us as he whispers, “No one cares. Give up!” He wants us to be depressed, down, and in despair. We need the church 24/7 but in times like today, we need even more the encouragement and support of fellow brothers and sisters.
Like the servant of Elisha the prophet, Lord open our eyes to see beyond the momentary problems and troubles of our world to see that we are not alone. We have each other. We are family with the greatest Father, God Himself, and the greatest older brother, Jesus.
I was visiting one dear sister in the Lord this past week and she shared that she had ‘adopted 6 older Christian sisters’ and was checking on them weekly. That’s caring for each other. That’s encouraging each other. That’s being a family!
Who might you encourage this week? Who might you call? Who might you send a card? Who might you pray for during our 40 DAYS OF PRAYER?
Speaking of the 40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION, there are plenty of handouts located on the three podium stands near the exit doors.
