Food for Thought

With graduation season right around the corner and a busy summer schedule coming up, as we go on our vacations, send kids off to college, and just generally go about daily life, there are some things I’d hope have been on our minds. If they haven’t been on our minds, maybe they will be going forward.

Parents have about 936 Sundays with a child before he or she turns 18. That used to seem like a lot, but not so much for me anymore. How many of those Sundays will be spent together among a church? Do we take a vacation from worshiping with the saints when we go on vacation away from our home congregation? Or do we make it a point to worship with the saints no matter where we may be on a particular weekend? What all will our children learn from their parents regarding one’s priority and passion for the worshiping of our Creator and almighty God? Do we make it a point to live out our faith?

Parents, may I encourage each of us to go to worship together. Let our children see our love for God and His people. Let us praise God and lead our children to Him! 936 Sundays. That’s it! Make them count!!!
