Sharing the Bible

Sharing the Bible

Over the past, almost four months of doing the BIBLE INVESTIGATION class, the questions have run the gauntlet from emotional (“My family died in a tornado. Where was your God when I needed him most?”) to searching (“What does God want me to do with my life?”) to accusative (“What about all the contradictions and mistakes in the Bible?” – that question is coming up in August). The flood of questions coming in for our BIBLE INVESTIGATION class tells me two things about our current culture.

#1-People are confused and worried. They do not know what will happen tomorrow with our ever-changing conditions and that pushes the anxiety level to a max. The sheer number of emails indicates that folks realize a need for, in the words of one viewer, “a higher power in my life”. That need is only fulfilled in our great God. In many ways, each of us has a God-shaped hole in our lives that only the Supreme Creator can fill.

#2-People are searching for answers. They are seeking. We have a golden opportunity to witness our faith and conviction in front of a community that is seeking now more than ever. How do we do this? First, by truly living the Christian life in front of them through being compassionate, encouraging, and helpful. Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

One additional thing I have noticed this past week. On one of our classes, the viewership exceeded 1,000 while most of our classes hover around the 150-200 mark. Why the difference in the number of viewers for this one class? It is SHARES. When you click on SHARE and SHARE NOW you are boldly standing up for a message from God’s Word and placing that message on your Facebook page. When you SHARE our potential audience goes up substantially. Isn’t that what we all want, more people given the opportunity to study with us? Thanks to all who continue to go the extra mile and SHARE.
