Life After Death

Life After Death

I guess eternal life has been a much-debated issue for centuries. In fact, Socrates said, “All men’s souls are immortal, but the souls of the righteous are both immortal and divine.” Aristotle said, “Whatsoever that be within us that feels, thinks, desires, and animates, is something celestial, divine, and, consequently, imperishable.” Job said after his body was destroyed he would see God. (Job 19:24-25). Jesus assured us of life after death in John 11:25-26. Many ask before entering into anything if there’s anything in it for them. If we, as well as those who doubt would constantly be aware of the eternal life promise, we would remain faithful or else come running to the grace of God. In fact, Cicero said, “I believe and am firmly persuaded that a nature which contains so many things within itself cannot but be immortal.” Solomon said that though the body returned to dust the spirit shall return to God (Ecc. 12:7).

Think about this, heaven is within our grasps. It’s all laid before us as a large banquet spread out as only God can deliver true beauty. Yet many refuse, laugh, mock or simply try to stand firmly on shaky ground, which of course is impossible. I’ll never forget a conversation a few years back with a man that made this comment, “I don’t know whether or not God exists, but I’m going to church just in case.” Beloved, that just won’t work. Either we accept Him unto life or reject Him unto death. The middle ground theory is a false concept developed by the predominately lukewarm. Life after death is a promise for the faithful (I Cor. 15). Being a Christian pays the greatest dividends available –yesterday, today, or tomorrow. It’s called, “Life after death.”
