Come Unto Me

Come Unto Me

Matthew 11:28-30: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

This is the invitation given to mankind by the Savior of all. This invitation was given to us by the grace and mercy of God. Notice as He says “Come unto Me…” Jesus is the Source. Jesus is the Provider. Jesus is the Rest. He did not say come unto something or anything or nothing. The Source for rest and comfort is Jesus Christ. AS we come unto Him , He will give us rest (vs.28). This is an interesting idea of the Source. Jesus gives rest, to all who will accept His rest. This rest is for the wearied and the worn out! Are you wearied or worn out by living in this world? Go unto Him!

Jesus offers the burden of His yoke. Now, that sounds so weird! A yoke is a piece of wood used to harness animals together for work purposes. The yoke Jesus offers is easy and light. If you are weary and worn out then take up this burden?!? This “burden” is the burden of being His servant. In the service of the Lord, we have peace, hope, help and provision. What a Great God we serve! Jesus is offering the burden of protection and love. Would you love to put on this burden? Go unto Him!

All of our needs and desires are all fulfilled in Jesus. We need to understand that Christ is our Source of everything and the yoke is the burden of compassion. When we are fully given unto Jesus Christ, then we can teach other how to relieve the stress and concerns of this life. Go unto Him! ~Billy Hayes
